Your Future in Aeronautics

Are you ready to lead and manage an aviation maintenance business, or take the next step in your career as an aviation maintenance technician?

Through the 100% online Aeronautics – Aviation Maintenance Management (BT) degree program, students will leverage their Associate of Arts degree in an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)-related field (or equivalent course of study) to graduate with a Bachelor of Technology in minimum time.

Students who have earned their AMT Associate of Arts degree and FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification through one of South Carolina’s technical colleges will typically graduate in two years of full-time study. On average, students will require 60-70 credit hours of course work to complete their Aviation Maintenance Management degree at CSU (dependent upon transcripts and credit hours transferred in, evaluated on a case-by-case basis).

Internships: While not required, CSU Aeronautics offers an Aviation Leadership Seminar (AERN 489) and opportunities for internships in the greater Charleston area and across the state.

Student Learning Outcomes: Graduates of the Aviation Maintenance Management program will possess the skills, character, and knowledge base to lead decisively and innovatively, with character and integrity, and competently manage an aviation maintenance business. They will also meet requirements for middle and upper-level management positions with one of South Carolina’s many aviation and aerospace-related businesses and manufacturers.

Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Programs: Trident Technical College, Greenville Technical College, and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aviation (Myrtle Beach) all offer Aviation Maintenance Technician programs.

FAQs

Does CSU have any partnerships with airlines or industry partners that guarantee job placement after graduation?: CSU hosts many airline recruiters and industry partners at career events during the semester, though there are no formal flow-through agreements at this time. Through our aeronautics career events, many of our students have interviewed with and been accepted into cadet/apprenticeship programs at various regional airlines, and the aviation industry is booming (see this article from Boeing http://www.boeing.com/commercial/market/commercial-market-outlook/).

What kind of classes will I be taking? Do you have an example curriculum roadmap for a student to follow?
